The Atlas Lion Statue

The Atlas Lion Statue in Ifrane is a carved stone tribute to the Barbary lion, a subspecies once native to the Atlas Mountains and now extinct in the wild, though descendants survive in captivity at Rabat Zoo. Sculpted in 1930 by a French soldier, the statue has become an unofficial mascot of the town and one of its most photographed landmarks, sitting near the centre of alpine-styled Ifrane.
