Safi Medina is the city's walled old town, a compact maze of narrow lanes sandwiched between the Portuguese fortifications and the Atlantic shoreline. Less visited and less polished than Morocco's larger medinas, it retains a working, unpretentious character built around craft workshops, small mosques, and daily local life.
