Mellah of Fez

The Mellah of Fez is one of the oldest Jewish quarters in Morocco, established in the 15th century when the city's Jewish community was relocated near the royal palace for protection. Its distinctive architecture - balconied facades facing the street, unlike the inward-facing houses of the Muslim quarter - still marks it out within the wider medina.
