Kasr al-Bahr (Dar el-Bahar)

Kasr al-Bahr (Dar el-Bahar) is a 16th-century Portuguese seafront fortress in Safi, its thick cannon-lined ramparts built to defend the harbour during the era of Portuguese control over Morocco's Atlantic coast. The fortress walls offer sweeping views over the working fishing port and the ochre rooftops of the Safi medina below.
