Bab Agnaou is one of the most elaborately decorated gates in the 12th-century Almoravid walls encircling Marrakech, its carved sandstone arch framed by geometric and calligraphic bands in a style that influenced later Almohad gateways across the empire. It marks the traditional entrance to the royal Kasbah district near the Saadian Tombs.
