The Asilah Ramparts are the well-preserved Portuguese-built fortifications encircling the town's whitewashed medina, dating largely from the 15th century when Asilah was a key Atlantic trading post. Walking the walls offers views over both the ocean and the mural-covered streets below, and the ramparts remain one of the best-preserved examples of Portuguese coastal defence architecture in Morocco.
