The Asilah Medina Murals are large-scale artworks painted directly onto the whitewashed walls of the old town each summer as part of the Asilah Arts Festival, a tradition dating back to 1978 that has turned the medina into an open-air gallery. Artists from Morocco and abroad repaint sections annually, giving the town's narrow lanes a constantly refreshed, colourful character.
