American Legation Museum
The American Legation Museum, in the heart of Tangier's medina, occupies the first American public property outside the United States - a gift from the Sultan of Morocco in 1821, the first foreign country to formally recognise American independence. It now houses historic documents, artwork, and exhibits on the long relationship between the two countries.
